Fall into Natives - Garden Habitat Walk

  • AH Arts 54 First Avenue Atlantic Highlands, NJ, 07716 United States (map)

AHArts is excited to continue its collaboration with “Wild About Atlantic Highlands” on September 13th. Come, see how together we are bolstering our local ecosystem—one native plant at a time!  15 NWF Certified Wildlife Habitats will be featured. By showcasing their native plants, garden owners will share how they’ve adapted their yards into wildlife habitats, and, in turn, help reinvigorate our local environment.

Our self-guided, habitat walk is not your typical garden tour.  Although you may see a well-manicured lawn or two—and, perhaps, some pretty, exotic plants—having a ‘BEAUTIFUL’ garden has taken on new meaning for our gardeners: helping wildlife and strengthening the environment: protecting and preserving.

Expect to see lovely garden habitats—as inviting to their wildlife friends as they are to humans: gardens where bees can collect pollen, where butterflies can drink nectar, birds can find insects to feed their young, and ecological practices are encouraged. Each garden is a work in progress, some more ‘finished’ than others.

Special bonus: Jason Goldman, Landscape Designer at Flower to the People, will be on hand at one of our habitat locations—to chat with visitors about native plants and how to use them in designing a garden.

Join our gardeners for a new (actually, a very old) way of looking at gardening!   A map of the participating hosts will be provided to registrants via email by 8 AM the morning of the Walk.   All locations are within Atlantic Highlands. Walking or biking is encouraged.

The Garden Habitat Walk is free, but a DONATION in any amount will help us to keep offering programs like this. Donate here.
