Augustus Arnone – Solo Piano Music by Bach and Finnissy

Augustus Arnone will perform two Preludes and Fugues from JS Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II, as well as 'My Parents' Generation Thought War Meant Something' from Michael Finnissy's monumental solo piano cycle, "The History Of Photography In Sound." 

Both collections that this program draws from, WTCII and The History Of Photography In Sound, are large-scale encyclopedic and pan-historical works that take a panoramic view of a vast sampling of musical sources. The Finnissy cycle draws from the music of JS Bach extensively, along with a plethora of other musical artifacts, just as JS Bach referenced the numerous styles drawn from different regions and time periods that he studied over the course of his career.
