It’s Baseball World Series time and what better way to get the fever than to come hear John Zinn talk about the Brooklyn Dodgers. This is part of the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society’s America 250 Series.
The Brooklyn Dodgers is one of the most iconic teams in the history of baseball. The team became legendary for winning championships, breaking barriers and developing star players. From the late 19th century, it has been known for many historic baseball moments, influential players and it’s major impact on the growth of baseball.
“Wait ‘til next year” was an unofficial Dodger slogan for many years. Come learn why and about such famous players as Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges and about the team’s Spring Training in New Jersey.
About the Speaker: John Zinn is a baseball historian and has written five books including three about the Brooklyn Dodgers. His biography of Charles Ebbetts won the 2018 Ron Gabriel Award. He has also written numerous essays and has a blog on baseball history. He is also chairman of the board of the New Jersey Historical Society and chair of New Jersey’s Committee on the Civil War Sesquicentennial.
