Home! A Mural.
Instructor: Lisa Kolarscik
"Home!" is a mural celebrating the unique landscape we call home. In a time where more and more development threatens to change the character of our special nook of New Jersey, children will work together to recall the natural and cultural landmarks special to our area. From the woods to the rivers, to the beach, to the ocean—and the one-of-a-kind places in between—we will paint and preserve our vision of home!
Session 2: Thursday, August 13, 10am to 12pm
Other Worlds Other Realms!
Instructor: Lisa Kolarscik
Indigenous cultures believed spirit animals were meant to guide and protect us on our journey in this world, empowering us with certain traits at certain times in our lives. The wisdom of the owl, the strength of a bear, the courage of a lion...calling upon our needed messengers in this particular moment in time, we will envision our own spirit animals and creatures, sculpting them into fruition as clay masks! Using air-dry clay, children will learn the basic approach to clay-modeling as taught through a Waldorf lens.

Make Mixed Media Self Portraits
Instructor: Lisa Kolarscik
Tapping into our five senses, children will contemplate the smell, taste, feeling, sound, and look of the crucial question: What does it mean to be free? They will first explore this theme in their minds and bodies, and then create mixed-media self portraits depicting this awesome and original version of themselves.

Painting Shore Animals & Shore Foods
Instructor: Ashley Lucas
You know how when you are at the beach, minding your own business, and a seagull steals your french fry? Let’s imagine another shore animal, pair it with a shore food, and make a painting. Feel free to bring one stuffed animal or figurine from home to inspire your creativity!
Our Kids Art Camp Instructors
LISA KOLARCSIK is a poet and artist working primarily in sculpture, photography and various paint mediums. A New Jersey native, she sees the world as a poem written in shapes and colors, light and dark. A world learned best by way of a good walk or conversation. A gesture, a sound—a line, a shadow—a dream, an imagination. Her work preserves a chance in time, a moment turned memory of the many spaces and places she has lived and traveled. Some fleeting feeling of an eternal song—a song that is joy and grief, wonder and fear, laughter, sorrow, hope, love and forgiveness. A song we know well but sometimes forget, and so it helps to be reminded. She teaches Jivamukti Yoga locally and is a Waldorf Teacher, though currently on hiatus, she continues to work with children, sharing her love of art and the outdoors with other little beings. lisa k. @__thrfitfoget
Ashley Regina Lucas has been creating art on products since she was just a wee little girl. One of her earliest memories of art and entrepreneurship is splashing paint on cardboard, cutting out tiny triangles, and turning them into earrings to sell alongside lemonade at age six.
Ashley earned her BFA from New York University. Career highlights include a pop‑up shop at West Elm Hoboken, winning a Spring House Brewing beer‑can design contest, and contributing artwork to nonprofit projects supporting coastal wildlife along the Jersey Shore.
Her creative vision has taken many forms over the years, most recently Sook & Hook, her coastal décor and sea glass arts brand.
Ashley’s first traditionally published children’s book, Mermaid Candy: A Sea Glass Adventure, will be released by Schiffer Kids in spring 2026. She is beyond thrilled to share this moving story about one of her most beloved subjects with the world.
